Earth Day reminds us how important it is to keep the environment clean. But we can’t forget about our home environments. According to the EPA, the air inside the average home is two to five times more polluted than the air outside. A big reason? The chemicals in the household cleaners we use on an almost daily basis. Who knew that cleaning up our homes could actually cause unclean air!
Products like all-purpose cleaners, disinfectants, and dishwashing detergents often harbor phosphates, chlorine, or petroleum-based ingredients that pollute rivers, lakes, oceans — and our lungs. In fact, many of the chemicals found in regular cleaning products have been linked to asthma, headaches, and various forms of cancer.
I’m always cleaning my kitchen after cooking, so I keep eco-friendly cleaners at the ready. Check out some of my favorite brands that get the job done right:

This brand’s been around since before eco was “in.” Their whole line is great, but their Dish Wash Automatic Concentrate is one of my favorites. Because it’s super concentrated, it requires just 2 teaspoons per load to get your dishes sparkling — which saves on packaging, too. The best part?
