Get ready to party!
Written by Sierra Winter

It’s not every day we girls get to be in the spotlight! But special events warrant some shine time. Take note of these styling tips to ensure you look fab on your special day — be it a birthday party or a night on the town.
The Outfit
If you’re looking to sport designer duds without paying a jaw-dropping price visit Rent the Runway. Instead of shelling out thousands for a one-time wear, this site lets you borrow glam gowns for $50 to $200, or you can sign up for a monthly unlimited pass for $350 a month. Better yet, shipping (they send two sizes just in case) and dry-cleaning costs are part of the fee! Goodbye passé, hello Herve Leger!
The Hair
Take tips from Krister Atle, in-demand hair stylist and owner of Persona Salon in Manhattan, to achieve salon-worthy hair at home.
Shampoo: Apply first thing in the shower and then rinse immediately.
Condition: Work conditioner through your hair so your locks can absorb it, leaving it ultra-moisturized and super soft. Be sure to bypass your scalp to avoid a greasy look. And don’t over-apply. It can lead hair to look flat post blow out — just enough to lightly cover your locks will do.
Blow dry: Give yourself a thorough blow out. For lots of volume, apply a root-lifting product (Krister suggests TIGI Catwalk Root Boost, and always dry your hair in sections.
Style: Whether you prefer straight or curly, always use a ceramic iron. They protect your hair from burns and are way more efficient at managing your mane than metal irons.

The Makeup
Complete the red carpet look using these tips from celebrity make-up artist Sue Devitt. She’s known for the signature smoky eye she uses on her long list of celebrity clients including Christy Turlington, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Diane Lane.
Sue Devitt’s signature smoky eye:
1. Using a large eye shadow brush, apply a medium-tone eye shadow all over your eyelid. Hold the brush upside down (bristles down) as you apply to allow the shadow’s pigment to get deep into the lash line.
2. Grab a medium-sized brush and apply a deeper shade to the lower portion of the eyelid to create depth. Again, hold the brush upside down and apply the darkest color along the lash line. Work the color upwards, graduating into the base color as you move up. Make sure the medium and dark shades blend together well.
3. Choose an eye pencil that complements your natural eye color. Work pencil along the top and bottom lash line, outlining your eye. For a dramatic, smoky effect, work the color slightly upwards into the eyelid and along rim of lower lashes with a lash liner brush.
4. To complete the look, brush a highlighter shade into the arch of the brow.
