I usually order chicken and broccoli or chicken and mixed vegetables...I try to choose dishes with a light sauce like teriyaki instead of thick, high calorie sauces.

How does moo shu chicken compare on the nutrition scale? And if you ask for little oil?

Sam, there is 232 calories, 12g of fat and 13g of carbs in each serving of Moo Shu Chicken. Not bad, but you can do better!

I love steamed Chicken and vegetables - the vegetables are cooked to perfection and are crispy - I can never make it the same at home. You can use the sauce that you ask for on the side or even just low sodium soy sauce. Very filling.

Buddhas Delight is my favorite dish. It is a vegetarian dish with two different tofu piece varities mixed with rice noodles. One can ask for a light amount of rice noodles if they would like. There are regular mushrooms and chinese mushrooms, baby corn, carrots, and Bok Choy mixed in. The dish is mixed with water and not gravy which makes it healthier.

I love steamed mixed veggies with shrimp. I make my own low-cal sauce using soy sauce ginger and other spices. Love steamed veggie dumplings too.

Mary,
You’re on the right track, a vegetable-based dish can be ultimately higher in fiber than most Chinese dishes which are deep-fried or include just fatty meats. However, even with vegetable-based dishes, like vegetable egg foo young, you need to be aware of the sauce used because it can be thick and loaded with corn syrup. Here’s some advice…if you love this dish request half the sauce. That way you get half the calories. Or ask for the sauce on the side and use it for light dipping!

I always get mixed veggies or buddah's delight, steamed with the sauce on the side. That way, I can control the amount of sauce I use and only use a little, but get the great flavor. My other secret- eat with chopsticks! It slows you down (and if you are a rice eater, it will definitely make it harder to eat a lot!)

I work at P.F. Changs and the food is sooo good. But, I try not to eat the food very often. However, when I do order I go for the budda's feast (mixed veggies) steamed and add chicken or shrimp. I also go for the ginger chicken with broc. but order the sauce on the side. They also have a really good cucumber salad and I like to add tomatos too!

Buddha's Feast-A vegetable medley (sometimes with tofu). You can order it sauteed or steamed. The steamed option is the healthier choice, and drizzle some low-sodium soy sauce on it.

My favorite thing to get is always shrimp with vegetables. It usually comes in a white sauce and I always ask them to make it without oil.

I always get steamed dumplings and chicken and corn soup or hot and sour soup. And I'll have a few bites of egg roll, and whatever my boyfriend gets.

Melissa,
Soups are a great way to start off a meal and can be very low in calories; however it is always important to keep in mind that they can vary drastically in fat content depending on the restaurant. Egg drop soup is generally low in calories, but in some restaurants it can be very high in sodium and sometimes fat. Other broth-based soup options to try are hot and sour soup and wonton soup. With regards to the steamed vegetable dumpling appetizer- while each dumpling only has approximately 30 calories, they often have a starchy, fatty outside. Furthermore, because the appetizer generally comes with 6 of these delicious dumplings-- you can end up consuming a lot of calories before you
