Woman We Love: Achelle Dunway
Name: Ac
helle Dunaway Age: 26
Location: New York City
Occupation: Creative Director at e.l.f. Cosmetics
What makes me tick: hmmm, attempting to drive in New York City I guess, your senses have to be very keen and it makes me extremely stressed out with all the chaos of bikers, pedestrians, taxis, one way streets, etc.
Current project: Creating new products to incorporate into the e.l.f. cosmetics line.
How I give back: I sponsor a child through Compassion International. It’s amazing how much we take for granted. My little girl is from Brazil, it’s so cool to be able to feel connected to someone when you live miles apart. Learn more at www.compassion.com
My favorite Skinny section: Skinny FAB of course, I love fashion and beauty!!
If I had 1 hour completely to myself, I would… Get a massage, there’s nothing better than relaxing and getting pampered!
If I had 1 year free completely to myself, I would… definitely travel around the world! There is so much to be learned about culture and beautiful cities to be seen! I would want to share the memories and experience it with my boyfriend though, I think the greatest events in life are the ones that are shared!!
Likes: I love shopping (yes that is very stereotypical girl lol), traveling, picnics at the beach, walks with my dogs in Central Park, movie nights at home with my boyfriend and mission work.
Dislikes: Ignorance and indifference.
Favorite quotes: “O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Isaiah 64:8
Favorite healthy snack: Yogurt with fresh fruit and Fiber One cereal, yumm!
And the winners of our Coach's Oats contest are...
We told you all about Coach's Oats and how they make a delicious, hot and healthy breakfast. And we asked you what your favorite breakfast on-the-go is and why. The three lucky ladies below will each receive a bag of Coach's Oats because we love their entries and want to spread the word about this Obsession:
1. Ashley, age 43 from Bethesda, MD
Well, my favorite breakfast on the go is a chocolate croissant and a cappuccino, but I don’t think that’s what you are looking for ;) Actually, I am a big believer that breakfast is a wonderful way to start your day feeling like you are doing the best you can for yourself – and the best way to do that is to eat healthily. So, when skipping the croissant (which, I’m pleased to say, is the vast majority of the time) my go-to-move is Greek yogurt, blueberries, GoLean Cruch (for, yes, crunch) ground flaxseed and a dribble of honey. Quick to prepare, super healthy, very yummy and can be eaten as I am choosing my outfit/purse/packing the gym bag. Can’t wait to see what your other readers like!
Amazing news! Announcing Fiber One Partnership!
Greetings Skinny readers! We are excited to announce that our founder Tanya Zuckerbrot, MS, RD is working closely with Fiber One to launch their new Fiber One 90 Calorie Chewy Bars. We’ve been sampling the bars here at Skinny, and we’ll have a full blown review in a few short weeks, but needless to say, they are delicious! The bars are available in chocolate and chocolate peanut butter, and have five grams of fiber to boot! And since you are a Skinny reader, we don’t have to tell you all the virtues of adding more fiber to your diet.
Keep your eye out for our full blown review, and if you see these bars on the grocery shelves and happen to try one – write us back and tell us what you think!
A word of note: Here at Skinny, we have a strict editorial policy, and no company, no matter how big or small, can buy coverage here. If we don’t like a product, we will not support it.
And the winners of our Equal Exchange contest are...
1) Wendy, age 59
"I am a fan of Equal Exchange because they work with small farmers, mostly in developing areas, and provide a fair trade to them for their labor. The products are organic, and the chocolate they offer includes bars with a 70%-plus cocoa content. It's an opportunity for me to participate in fair trade to help out small farmers while getting a great product."
2) Brook, age 29
"I think it is great that Equal Exchange has 100% recycleble packaging. I get laughted at for how much I recycle but I believe it is very important. I want my little girl to have a healthy earth when she grows up and I think this is a start."
Both Wendy and Brook will win an Equal Exchange coffee and chocolate gift bag! Find out why we are fans of Equal Exchange here.

And the winner(s) of an Ivanka Trump diamond bracelet is...
Kimberly, age 37, from Lakeside Park, Kentucky! She was generous enough to share this gorgeous diamond bracelet valued at $1,950 so we thought she deserved it:
If I were to win the bracelet, I would debut it on a trip to see my best friend from college. We're both in our thirties and haven't seen each other in 6 years because we each have 3 young kids and busy careers. I think it would be fun to make it a friendship bracelet (albeit a luxurious one!) - each of us would keep it for half the year. I'm in kentucky and she's recently moved to new jersey from the city. We both love Ivanka Trump's jewelry and my friend has even been to her shop. That way, even though geography separates us, it would be a wonderful way to continue to feel connected! She recently turned me on to Skinny in the City and we both love to read the daily advice. In fact, our most recent email string revolved around the GG crackers......she enjoys them, and i am planning to try something new since the baby weight of my 3rd child (now 9 months) isn't fading like I would like it to!
Enjoy your luxurious friendship bracelet, ladies!

And the winner of our Sue Devitt beauty contest is....
Martha, 57 from Winchester, VA. With this deserving entry she'll recieve a variety of goodies valued at over $160 from Sue Devitt Beauty.I would really love to win this in order to not only enhance my appearance but also boost my self-esteem.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and it's associated syndromes in 2002. It has caused me to be unable to work any longer, plus I am unable to socialize with my friends like I used to. I am pretty much house-bound, for the most part.
My 40th high school reunion is coming up this year in May and I would love to go but worry that I'll feel very inferior to others attending. I had a successful career but had to stop working early due to my health. That led to financial hardship as well as the inevitable lack of self-esteem. Being 57 years old now, my self-esteem has taken another punch because, when I look in a mirror, I don't recognize that person looking back at me.
Winning this contest will not only help me to look my best at this class reunion but also give my ego a shot in the arm so I'll be able to face my old classmates with enthusiasm and confidence.
And the winner of our Nutrition at Your Fingertips contest is...
Trinh, age 19, from Seattle, WA. We know you'll find your signed copy of Nutrition at Your Fingertips by Elisa Zied MS, RD very helpful:
For years my mom has collected food articles from the paper that have information about different kinds of foods and their nutrtional values and disease treatments, etc. She loves learning about the new kinds of food out there and how it's a natural remedy for some things. She always reads them to me and when I told her I wanted to be a nutritionist or dietitian she got so excited. She told me that she'd keep them all for me so when I get my degree and start my career I'd have them to refer back to. I think the book would be a great gift to her and would also be useful for me later down the road.
And for everyone else, check out why we love this amazing resource.
