Amazing news! Announcing Fiber One Partnership!
Greetings Skinny readers! We are excited to announce that our founder Tanya Zuckerbrot, MS, RD is working closely with Fiber One to launch their new Fiber One 90 Calorie Chewy Bars. We’ve been sampling the bars here at Skinny, and we’ll have a full blown review in a few short weeks, but needless to say, they are delicious! The bars are available in chocolate and chocolate peanut butter, and have five grams of fiber to boot! And since you are a Skinny reader, we don’t have to tell you all the virtues of adding more fiber to your diet.
Keep your eye out for our full blown review, and if you see these bars on the grocery shelves and happen to try one – write us back and tell us what you think!
A word of note: Here at Skinny, we have a strict editorial policy, and no company, no matter how big or small, can buy coverage here. If we don’t like a product, we will not support it.

Yup, it’s true: Today is National Doughnut Day. Whether as a quick breakfast grab, a birthday party treat, or business meeting staple, doughnuts have been a part of American culture forever. This sweet, deep fried pastry we hate to love is being honored today, June 5th. A day for celebrating doughnuts seems trite, but the history is actually pretty interesting.National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to raise funds during the Great Depression as well as to honor the work of Salvation Army volunteers during WWI who prepared doughnuts for thousands of soldiers.
Major doughnut chains like Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme are giving away free doughnuts in honor of the special day. Resist the urge! A standard sized doughnut can cost you a whopping 400 calories, 15 grams of fat, and 63 carbs! If you absolutely must have a doughnut today, opt for 1 glazed doughnut hole or munchkin, which contains 50 calories, 2.8 grams of fat, and 7 carbs.
Leave your house fortified with healthy snacks to satisfy your sweet tooth and keep you from dipping into the doughnut box!

Confessions of a Dietitian
This weekend Confessions of a Shopaholic premiered in movie theaters all over the country. Not all of the Skinny girls are shopaholics, but we all can appreciate the high after a solid purchase. But although we may not be addicted to shopping like Rebecca Bloomwood, we have our weaknesses too. We thought we'd take this opportunity to show you that we are not healthy eating, nutrition information dispensing robots. Being registered dietitians does not prevent us from being human. Many of us got into this field because we love food, so of course, we indulge in what we love just like Rebecca shops. The key is to do it in moderation so your appreciation for that indulgence is heightened ten-fold.All this week on the web, look for our confessions A.K.A. our weaknesses when it comes to our expertise. We hope this will inspire you to realize that it is possible to live your life to the fullest while maintaining your healthy figure and overall wellness. Please share your stories, addictions, food downfalls, and fashion faux pas so we can help you through them. That's what we're here for after all!
