Making up isn’t hard to do this Tuesday

I’ve been looking forward to January 20 for a while (hello, inaugural fashion), but now I have another reason: free makeup! 
 
High-end retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Saks, and Macy’s have to give away more than $175 million of equally high-end cosmetics starting this Tuesday.
 
To what do we owe the pleasure? A class-action lawsuit — thanks, my fellow Americans! I know it seems a bit strange, but allegedly 14 retailers were holding back stock in order to drive up prices. They settled by agreeing to deal with hoards of Lancôme, Chanel, and Estée Lauder-loving women swiping their merch — um, I mean, by agreeing to reimburse the general public with more than 20 select products, from perfume to body lotion to mascara. It’s first come, first served and one product per person.
 
According to cosmeticssettlement.com, the stores that will be participating are:
  •     Bergdorf Goodman
  •     Bergner’s
  •     Bloomingdale’s
  •     Boston Store
  •     Carson Pirie Scott
  •     Dillard’s
  •     Gottschalks
  •     Herberger’s
  •     Macy’s
  •     Neiman Marcus
  •     Nordstrom
  •     Parisian
  •     Saks Fifth Avenue
  •     Younkers
Reports say that consumers are not required to show proof of purchase, though customers will have to sign a certification sheet acknowledging they purchased Department Store Cosmetics at least once between May 29, 1994 through July 16, 2003.
 
Now that’s what I call justice for all!
